Like any prolific artist, Anna Jane’s ideas flow like a stream — steadily moving and teeming with creativity. Once upon her free time, Anna Jane thought she would do something out of her new found fondness for leather. That, combined with her innovative visions and innate talent, she handcrafted a bold statement necklace incorporating skills and ideas both new and old.
In her exploration for new materials, Anna Jane initially considered using a real horn for its striking visual appeal, but constraints led her to a creative solution. She fashioned an equally compelling replica from cowhide leather, dyeing it a rich brown color and scoring it for texture. To add intricacy to the aesthetics of the necklace, small Patikan (Palm Wood) beads were strategically arranged by size and carefully linked through the same weaving technique she used on her signature beaded bags, and then using the same cowhide leather to piece everything together.
For most of her designs, Anna Jane usually prefers to use tigerwood, but Patikan beads were undeniably the perfect choice, as it blended seamlessly with the cowhide, creating a beautifully harmonious ensemble.
